Apple today at CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA officially unveiled the all new MacBook Pros. The latest iteration of the Mac series features the new M2 Pro and M2 Max chipset. The former one boasts a 12 – core CPU (8 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores), up to 19-core GPU and up to 32GB of unified memory. While the latter one – M2 Max includes up to 38 cores of GPU power and support for up to 96GB of unified memory.

New MacBook Pro

Both the 14-inch and 16-inch models are available for order starting today. As far as the pricing goes the standard display variant with M2 Pro starts at $1,999 while the 16-inch model starts at $1,999. Starting January 24th the company will start shipping the units as well.

“MacBook Pro with Apple silicon has been a game changer, empowering pros to push the limits of their workflows while on the go and do things they never thought possible on a laptop,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “Today the MacBook Pro gets even better. With faster performance, enhanced connectivity, and the longest battery life ever in a Mac, along with the best display in a laptop, there’s simply nothing else like it.”

As far as the storage configurations goes, the all new MacBook Pro models range from 512GB for the base variant and goes up to 8TB for the higher end variant. Like the previous generation these one are also available in Space Gray and Silver color options. Apple also touted that the new MacBook Pros will offer the “longest battery life ever in a Mac,” with up to 22 hours of runtime.

Whether you are plugged in or on battery the new gen MacBook Pros will deliver the unmatched power performance. According to Apple, if you are a intel-based Mac customer and looking for upgrade you will experience “even more dramatic improvements in performance, battery life, connectivity, and overall productivity”.

What You’ll Get With M2 Pro And M2 Max

With M2 Pro On MacBook Pro:

  • 30 percent greater graphics performance over M1 Max.
  • Rendering titles and animations in Motion is up to 80 percent faster1 than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Pro and up to 20 percent faster5 than the previous generation.
  • Compiling in Xcode is up to 2.5x faster1 than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Pro and nearly 25 percent faster5 than the previous generation.
  • Image processing in Adobe Photoshop is up to 80 percent faster1 than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Pro and up to 40 percent faster5 than the previous generation.

With M2 Max On MacBook Pro:

  • Effects rendering in Cinema 4D is up to 6x faster1 than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Pro and up to 30 percent faster6 than the previous generation.
  • Color grading in DaVinci Resolve is up to 2x faster1 than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Pro and up to 30 percent faster6 than the previous generation.
