We all know the whole world is shaken by COVID-19 Pandemic, so this time instead of going for the traditional event Apple announced the 2020’s new iPhone in a press release.

Back in 2016, when Apple announced the original SE it was priced at $399. And it’s nice to see that the company has kept the same price for the new SE as well.

With this new phone Apple wants to target the budge-friendly tier where the crowd is growing at a tremendous rate. This new iPhone is a more of a refresh of the iPhone 8 than of the original SE.

The 2020 version of iPhone SE flaunts a 4.7-inch “Retina HD” display screen with True Tone. And like iPhone 8, it also has the sapphire crystal-covered capacitive Touch ID fingerprint sensor. The screen also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10 playback.

One of the highlighting features of this new version of SE is the chipset, it comes with Apple’s A13 Bionic processor – which is the same one that the company used in 11, 11Pro and 11Pro Max. The chipset is coupled with 3gigs of RAM and the option to choose between 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB onboard storage.

Unlike the phones we get to see every now and then, this one has a single rear 12-megapixel sensor that has f/1.8 lens. The sensor is capable of shooting Portrait Mode photos. You can shoot video up to 4K at 60 frames per second or with an extended dynamic range up to 30fps. The camera also has “cinematic” video stabilization.

The front section houses for the 7-megapixel unit which can also take portrait shots.

To keep the lights of the unit on, the company has embedded the 1,821mAh of battery (same as that of iPhone 8) with the same 5W charger. But interestingly, the new SE version also supports for 18W charging.

Buy a new adapter from the market and you’d be able to charge your device from  0 to 50% in about 30 minutes.

The iPhone SE 2020 is IP67 water and dust certified, means you can submerged in up to 1m of water for up to 30 minutes.

Pre-order of the unit is already live, and is available in Black, White and Red color option. The company will start shipping the orders from April 24. Pricing details are as follows:

  • $399 for 64GB storage
  • $449 for 128GB storage
  • $549 for 265GB storage

The above pricing details are for the US. For other regions, the iPhone SE will start at CNY3,299 (€428) and can go up to CNY4,599 (€600).
