OnePlus today at a special event in NewYork officially lifted the veil of its second smartphone of the year – OnePlus 6T. From past month we’ve been seeing a lot of leaks, rumor specs and it matches up with recent leaks.
Design And Display
The device came up with a new notch display, an in-display fingerprint reader and a bigger battery. Along with the hardware, there are a few software improvements as well. The later includes improvements to the camera section. The overall performance of the device has also been improved.
RIP The Headphone Jack
OnePlu 6T is one of those flagships smartphones launched in the year 2018 who has ditched the headphone jack. But the company has generously bundled a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter in the phone’s box.
The device features a 6.41″ AMOLED display with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution and 19.5:9 ratio. It now has narrower bottom bezels, in comparison to the predecessor.
This is OnePlus’s first smartphone to feature an in-display fingerprint reader. When you pick up the device it will display a fingerprint icon to put your finger on.
Another hardware improvement is in the battery department, this time OnePlus has gone with the 3, 700 mAh of the battery which is 12 percent larger than the original 6.
All these hardware upgrades have made the device slightly taller and around 3g heavier.
Although the hardware of the camera section is identical to that of 6, the software has been updated.
The OnePlus 6T has the dual rear-camera setup – a 16 MP, f/1.7, plus a
20 MP, f/1.7 lens (telephoto sensor). The front notch boasts the 16MP, f/2.0 sensor.
Thanks to the new Nightscape feature, the 6T will produce brighter low-light images with lower noise.
Under the hood, there’s the latest chipset which you would have expected the flagship smartphone launched at this time. Precisely, the device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor which is coupled with 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB storage option.
Android 9 Pie comes pre-installed on top of the company’s own OxygenOS which is now also improved. There are two new features which have been introduced – Gaming Mode and Smart Boost.
The former one will let you lock the brightness of the screen while you are playing a game. It will give you more control on notifications and will help you limit the data usage of other apps.
And the later one will help you improve app cold start speed by keeping certain app data in the RAM. For now, this only supposed to work for certaing games.
Thanks to OnePlus’s Dash Charger (20W), you will get up to a day’s battery in just 30 minutes.
