Microsoft Unveils Slew Of New Hardware – Surface Pro 6, Surface Laptop 2, Surface Studio 2, Surface Headphones

Microsoft at a special event today officially lifted the veil off a slew of new hardware – Surface Pro 6, Surface Laptop 2, Surface Studio 2, and Surface Headphones (with Cortana built-in).

Surface Pro 6

The next-gen Surface Pro 6 with Intel’s latest 8th generation processor is here. Microsoft claims that it will be 67% faster than it’s predecessor. The new surface supports quad-core processors and has the same 12.3″ Pixel Sense display with 2736 x 1824 pixel resolution.

The hardware also supports up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD but sadly there are no USB-C ports.

As far as the pricing goes the Core i5 Surface Pro 6 will start at $899 and will go on sale starting October 16. Pre-order of the device has already begun, so if you are interested you can head over to the Microsoft Store, choose the required configuration and pre-order one for yourself.

Surface Laptop 2

This one also has Intel’s latest 8th generation processor and thanks to that it is now a whopping 85% faster than the original surface laptop. Moreover, it houses thinnest LCD ever on a laptop. No USB port-c here as well.

The new Surface Laptop 2 is equipped with a 13.5″ Pixel Sense display with 2256 x 1504 pixel resolution. Microsoft claims that this laptop will give up to 14.5 hours of local video playback.

Looking at the all-new Surface Studio 2 at a glance you’ll notice that it is almost identical to the first gen – but it’s faster than ever.

The Studio 2 is equipped with a 28″ pixel sense display with 4500 x 3000-pixel resolution (192 PPI) and comes with Nvidia’s next-gen Pascal graphics (not an RTX GPU) and a 2TB SSD.

As far as the pricing goes this will set you back at a hefty $3,499. Pre-order of the device has already begun.

Surface Headphones

The only new addition launched at the event is the Surface Headphones. The over-ear noise-canceling (13 levels) headphones which features premium sound and give users hands-free voice commands thanks to the support for Cortana.

“They slip comfortably over your ears to surround you with spectacular sound quality and 13 levels of ambient noise control,” Microsoft’s press release says. “Designed with collaboration in mind, there are 2 beam-forming microphones on each ear cup, 8 microphones in total, all helping you focus on the sounds you want to capture allowing for excellent call experiences.”

These will cost you around $350 and are expected to go on sale sometime later this year.
