Report: Meizu Seems To Be Working On A Device Running Ubuntu Codenamed ‘ Midori’

As per the latest report from the below source suggests Meizu is in works with Canonical- the company behind the free Linux-based operating system, to release a new device running Ubuntu. This unheralded device is codenamed ‘Midori’, there’s also a popular Linux web browser with the same name.

Ubuntu-powered devices by Meizu usually have codenames inspired by characters from popular anime series Dragon Ball. These includes:

  • Krillin – Bq Aquaris E4.5
  • Arale – Meizu MX4
  • Vegeta – Bq Aquaris E5
  • Turbo – Meizu PRO 5
  • Frieza – Bq Aquaris M10 HD
  • Cooler – Bq Aquaris M10 FHD

Midori is also a character from the series Dragon Ball but it’s little known.

No other information regarding this device has came yet. The information is extremely scarce, so getting into any speculation is pointless at this stage. We’ll let you guys know as soon as we hear about this Ubuntu powered device.
