Google’s Next Generation Nexus Devices Officially Announced

Google has officially announced it’s next generation Nexus devices. Last year, Google surprised everyone with a massive 6-inches Nexus 6 2560 x 1440 493ppi AMOLED screen. It’s the best big phone we’ve ever used. This year Google came up with two new Nexus devices- Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P both compact and easily pocketable.

For past few months we’ve seen many rumors, leaked pics, leaked specs and now as both the devices are official, it seems once again the rumors are going to be true. Talking about Nexus 6P, Huawei-built smartphone follow-up to last year’s Nexus 6, is better in every way imaginable.

Huawei Nexus 6P

The Huawei Nexus 6P is a large phone if we compare it with the one manufactured by LG, but it’s nowhere nearly as large as last year’s Nexus 6. The event is currently live and we have gathered few official specs of the device. 

The Nexus 6P is running off of the Snapdragon 810 v2.1 processor paired with 3GB of RAM, along with this Google is also offering healthy amounts of storage here, with the phone available in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB configurations.

On the bottom of the phone you’ll see a USB Type-C port as rumored earlier, a reversible design that’s quickly becoming a new standard for electronics. 

Nexus Imprint and Google says it opens up fingerprint recognition to the “entire app ecosystem.” Once trained, the sensor can recognize fingerprints in less than 600 milliseconds, and it learns more about your fingerprint over time to get more accurate.

LG Nexus 5X

As rumored earlier that LG made-Nexus will be an affordable device and will come with a price tag of $379 (16GB variant). 

The Nexus 5X powers a 5.2-inch 1080p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor paired with 2GB of RAM, a 12.3MP camera which Google claims to be good at indoor photos. The back is also home to a fingerprint sensor, which is used for a feature called “Nexus Imprint.”

Along with this, the 5x also includes a USB Type-C port and comes into storage options 16GB or 32GB. Here are the specs that the Nexus 5X will feature:

  • Ports: USB Type-C with quick charge, nanoSIM slot, 3.5mm headphone jack
The Nexus 5x packs a 2,700mAh battery, a wide range of sensors, and comes in white, blue, or black color options.


As per the official announcements from Google, the Nexus 6P will be available in Google’s online store as of today for pre-order in the US, UK, Ireland, and Japan. More countries coming will be coming over the next few weeks.

As per the price is concerned the Nexus 6P will start at $499 for a 32GB model and will start shipping in October. Naturally, they’re unlocked, available without the contract, and should work on all US carriers as well as internationally.

Along with this Google is also offering a 90-day free subscription to Google Play Music as well as a $50 Google Play credit with every purchase.
