VLC Updated To Version 3.0 ‘Vetinari’ – Brings Support From Chromecast, 8K And HDR
VLC – as we all know is popular media player which is widely used across the globe. The player as we all know is available on a range of platforms including the macOS, Windows, Linux, Xbox One, Android – to name a few.
The big news is that VLC has just launched the version 3.0 ‘Vetinari’ for all the major desktop and mobile platforms. The new version brings the support for hardware decoding by default, to get 4K and 8K playback, 360-degree video and 3D audio, HDR, and HDR tone-mapping and support for Chromecast devices.
According to a report from VentureBeat, the update brings fixes to more than 1500 bugs and spans more than 20,000 commits. It is “the result of more than three years of volunteer work”.
The update will be available for all Windows version going back to XP, all macOS versions going back to 10.7, all iOS versions going back to iOS 7, all Android versions going back to Gingerbread 2.3, and all Chromebooks with the Google Play Store.
