OnePlus 6 – The Speed You Need – is now official
A Couple of days back OnePlus at an event (and a separate event in India on 17th May) officially lifted the veil of the highly-awaited OnePlus 6 flagship smartphone. At first glance, you won’t find anything revolutionary – the company following the norm came up with a notched screen.
The companies MO has always been to offer a flagship smartphone at an affordable price. And this newly unveiled smartphone is no difference.
The OnePlus 6 is equipped with a 6.28″ Optic AMOLED display which has an 19:9 aspect ration and a notch – OnePlus says it covers 84% of the front, but that doesn’t account for the notch. The device has a resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels and also supports for both sRGB and DCI-P3.
Under the hood there resides Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor – which is the latest in the market – and the chipset is coupled with either 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM and you can have up to 256 GB of 2-lane UFS 2.1 storage.
The device has a vertical dual camera setup – as you can see in the depicted pictures – and the rear side this time has no sandstone and no metal, instead there are three distinct color options – a reflective Mirror Black, a matte Midnight Black.
The dual setup includes a 16MP Sony IMX 519 sensor (f/1.7) and a 20MP secondary Sony IMX 376K sensor (f/1.7). The former one has OIS, can record a video of 4K @ 60 fps and can shoot 480 fps slow-mo videos at 720p resolution for 3.75s. resulting in a minute of actual footage. Below the camera setup there’s a dual-LED flash.
And the front side of the device includes a Sony IMX 371 16MP sensor which has a fixed focus and f/2.0 aperture. The front camera has an AI to create the Portrait mode’s bokeh and also does face unlocking in 0.4s.
Fingerprint reader is also there located on the rear side just below the dual-LED flash. The device is water resistant but there’s no official listing of IP rating.
To keep the lights of the device on company has embedded a 3,300mAh of battery which is same as that of previous iteration and comes with the fast Dash Charger (5V at 4A). Surprisingly, there’s no wireless charging support despite the glass back.
As far as the availability goes, the OnePlus 6 will go on sale starting May 22 and will be up for grabs in the following countries colored red in the map below. The Silk White limited edition is expected to go on sale from June 5.
