Google Pushed Out January Security Update For The Pixel And Nexus Devices

Google has started pushing out the January Android Security Update for its Pixel and Nexus devices. Factory images and OTA files are now available for download from company’s website. If you are one of the impatient users you can download the files and flash the update manually or wait for the OTA update to hit your device.

As per the report suggests, there are 20 issues resolved in this latest Security Patch. And once again there are two patch levels – 2018-01-01 (20 bug fixes) and 2018-01-05 (18 bug fixes).

Vulnerabilities range from high to critical, with the most severe relating to the media framework and possibly permitting a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code through a “crafted file.”

But until the time of writing this article, there have been no reports of anyone being affected by any of these security issues.

The update will install 46 security fixes and two functional updates to your Pixel or Nexus device.
