From past couple of months we’ve been seeing a lot of rumors. leaks, render images, and listing of next flagship killer smartphone- finally the device is now official. The china-based juggernaut OnePlus
officially unveiled it’s this year’s flagship smartphone named as OnePlus 5
. We all know why company skip the number ‘4’, so without getting into it let’s talk about this newly launched device.
On June 20 OnePlus 5 went official on the global stage. It’s the first device from the Chinese company to come with dual camera setup. Moreover the device will support 24 network bands, seems like with this device company is aiming to achieve it’s desire of building a flagship killer smartphone for the whole world.
If we didn’t count the OnePlus X, the OnePlus 5 is the thinnest flagship smartphone company has ever produced – just 7.5mm in thickness.
One of the highlighting feature of this device is it’s dual camera setup located on the rear side (similar to that of iPhone 7 Plus), it boasts a “tailor-made” 16MP sensor, which excels at low-light photography with a bright f/1.7 aperture. The second sensor is telephoto 20MP sensor which speed up the autofocus by up to 40%. There’s also a Portrait mode which blures the background creating a bokeh effect keeping the subject sharp, although the edges aren’t that refine.
To keep the lights of the device on company has embedded a 3,300mAh of non-removable battery which is 300mAh more than the 3
but 100mAh less than 3T
. Like last year Dash Charge is also there which will give you a day’s battery in just half an hour of charging.
Under the hood there resides Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 chipset, thanks to this new chip the OnePlus 5 will 20% longer than 3T despite of having a 100mAh smaller battery.
Higher variant of the device will come with a whooping 8GB of RAM for nigh-unlimited multitasking and 128GB faster built-in storage (UFS 2.1 but now with two-lane ROM that is up to 26% faster). There’s a base variant which comes with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of same fast storage.
The device is equipped with the same 5.5″AMOLED display panel with same 1080p resolution. But now it has DCI-P3 support as seen in iPhone 7 and Galaxy S8. Android 7.1 Nougat operating system comes pre-installed with refinements over stock. There’s a new Gaming Do Not Disturb mode and Reading mode.
On the bottom side nothing is changed, there’s same speaker grill along with USB-C port and 3.5mm headphone jack. The audio quality of the device is above average but not the best around.
The newly launched OnePlus 5 will be available for purchase starting June 27 (Tuesday) from oneplus.net.
