Samsung Shipped Around 308.5M Units Last Year - Remains The Top Smartphone Seller

Last year the South Korea giant Samsung has shipped a whopping 308.5 million units and remained the top smartphone seller position - as per the latest report from Strategy Analytics suggests. Apple holds the second spot with sale of 215.5 million iPhones.


But despite the fact that Apple has sold nearly a million less devices company wins the race for share of profit and rakes in around 79.2% of profit last year - this accounts in a profit of $44.9 billion out of $53.7 billion total globally.

Whereas, Samsung Mobile has a profit of $8.3 billion Samsung has managed to keep the second spot, these digits would certainly be bigger but now-discontinued Galaxy Note7 cause a major dent.

On comparing operating profit margins,  Apple’s was 32.4% while Samsung’s was 11.6%.

Huawei has sold around 72.2 million Honor series units and the higher-end Ascend series around 65.7 million and came at the 3rd in market share. With 46.4 million market share Xioami is at 4th position, a drop considering the stats of 2015.

Vivo and Oppo are at the last, where Vivo’s X series sold 33.7 million, the Y series 25.6 million. Oppo’s R series outsold both at 38.4 million.
