Lenovo/Motorola at MWC 2017 officially took wraps off the next gen G-series smartphones. Moto G series is quite a hit since the first gen and we are now at 5 this means the Moto G5 and G5 Plus are official. Both the devices looks premium thanks to the metal build.
Motorola Moto G5
The normal variant of the Moto G5 is equipped with a 5″ fullHD IPS display covered with Gorilla Glass 3. Under the hood there is octa-core Qulacomm Snapdragon 430 processor clocked at 1.4GHz. Memory section includes 2GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB on board storage option, both are expandable.
Camera section includes a 13MP f/2.0 rear snapper with features like phase-detect autofocus and on the front there’s an 5MP f/2.2 wide-angle selfie cam. Just below the display screen company has embedded a fingerprint sensor on both the normal and plus variant.
To keep the lights of the device on Motorola has embedded a 2,800mAh of battery which will charge at 10W, Motorola is keen to point out. The device measures in at 144.3x73x9.5mm and weighs 144g. The device will come with Android Nougat pre-installed.
Motorola Moto G5 Plus
The plus variant came up with few notable improvements, lets start with the display it houses a 5.2″ fullHD display. Motorola has embedded a 14nm Snapdragon 625 chipset in this variant. There’s difference in memory section too, RAM and storage versions for the G5 Plus, are either 2GB or 4GB and 32GB or 64GB, again expandable.
There’s a difference in camera section too, the primary cam is a 12MP dual-pixel sensor behind an f/1.7 aperture lens. This variant also supports for 4K video recording unlike the Moto G5. Front came is same the 5MP shooter. There’s a slightly larger battery in this case, 3000mAh and support for TurboPower charging. This one is a bit larger, naturally – 150.2x74x9.7mm, and weighs 155g.
Price & Availability: The Moto G5 will be available for purchase in Latin America, Europe, Asia Pacific and North America, beginning early next month. The Moto G5’s price will start at €199 for the 2GB/16GB version, while the Moto G5 Plus ups that to €279 for the 3GB/32GB flavor and $229 for a 2GB/32GB handset, with a hint there at what’s going to be available where.
