BlackBerry Priv And DTEK50 Updated – QuadRooter No Longer A Threat

BlackBerry DTEK50

Couple of days back we reported that over 900 million Android running smartphones and tablets that use Qualcomm chipset have been affected by a new flaw ‘QuadRooter’. The flaw is basically a set of four vulnerabilities affecting nearly a billion android devices. The list of the devices that got affected also includes the BlackBerry Priv and DTEK50 which company claims is “the world’s most secure android smartphone.”

But now the Blackberry has successfully patched both it’s android-powered devices against QuadRooter. You people might be wondering why BlackBerry would rush out a fix, on this
BlackBerry Chief Security Officer, David Kleidermacher gave the perfect reply. He said, “Some critical Android vulnerabilities – for example, one that can be easily and remotely exploited with a publicly disclosed method to execute ‘root’ privileged malware – simply can’t wait for a monthly update cycle.”

Starting today the update will begin roll out to those device which were purchased directly from BlackBerry. And the other carrier-sold devices will receive the update later on this week.
