Google Will Shut Down Its Chrome App Launcher

Google via its Chromium Blog announced its plans to shut down the Chrome app launcher for Windows, Linux and Mac in July. If you don't know what Chrome app launcher is, well, this is basically the reason Google has decided to kill it.

"The removal process will take place over the next several months. Beginning in a few weeks, Chrome will no longer enable the launcher when users first install a Chrome app. Anyone who currently has the launcher will receive a notice informing them that the launcher will be going away. In July, existing instances of the launcher will be removed."

But this doesn't mean that Google is shutting down Chrome apps, they aren't going anywhere. You can still launch an app by either clicking on its shortcut in the bookmarks or by typing chrome://apps in the omnibox.
