Samsung Galaxy S6 VS Apple iPhone 6

In Tech world, there always has been intense rivalry between Samsung and Apple. We all know there's a great history of both the rivalries of hawking and suing on each other on the basis of patents.

Earlier this year at MWC 2015 Samsung came up with it's next-generation Galaxy S-series smartphone dubbed as Samsung Galaxy S6. The smartphone launched with all new metallic design and mobile payment system. On April 17th Apple launched iPhone 6 with all new processor, along with it company also launched its bigger version named as iPhone 6 Plus. The two smartphones has a lot in common, as both offer tempting helpings of powerful components, advanced features, and cutting-edge software.

Design and Build:

Both Samsung and Apple tried to gave a premium look to their devices. Samsung Galaxy S6 came up with matte aluminum alloy frame and Gorilla Glass 4 on the front and back. All the while Samsung toiled in the background, for five generations of Galaxy flagships they kept working on plastic shell but it didn't work out. S6 lives world apart, finally Samsung has gave their fans premium look for which they have been crying out for years.

Apple on the other hand is a company which always put design at the forefront of its new handsets. Apple iPhone 6 have soft, rounded corners and a curved glass screen that melds smoothly into the thin metal body of the device. The volume-rocker which is now pill-shaped is located on the left side and the power button on the right side.

  • Galaxy S6 – 143.4 x 70.5 x 6.8 mm (5.64 x 2.77 x 0.27 in) and 138g (4.86 oz)
  • iPhone 6 – 138.1 x 67 x 6.9mm (5.44 x 2.64 x 0.27in) and 129g (4.55oz)
Both companies have tried their best to give users a grip, style and premium look. We'll say it's the most beautiful galaxy we have ever seen and on the other hand Apple has always been a master of design.

Hardware: Samsung Galaxy S6 is powered by a 64-bit 14nm Samsung Exynos 7 Octa processor. Four cores runs at 2.1GHz and four at 1.5GHz. Galaxy S6 is the first phone to feature next-gen LPDDR4 memory as it packs in a whopping 3GB of RAM. In comparison to this Apple iPhone 6 powers a A8 64-bit dual-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz along with 1GB of RAM (DDR3). Point to notice is that S6's DDR4 memory is 80% faster than iPhone 6's DDR3.

In 2013, when Apple launch the iPhone 5s along with it they also introduced fingerprint sensor baked into the home button. It was done to secure your phone and reduce the time to unlock code. Samsung followed this suit in the S5 but it didn't work out for them, it was nowwhere near reliable as Apple's sensor and thankfully that has changed in S6.

In new Galaxy S6 you will see a new, better and updated fingerprint sensor than that we've seen in S5. There were many flaws in S5 fingerprint sensor but this one works perfectly just by holding finger on it. And if we compare that with iPhone 6's sensor it's almost same and now feels more robust.

Samsung Galaxy S6 comes with a slimmer design, which means S6(2550mAh) battery is smaller than the S5(2800mAh). Moreover it's a non-removable battery which charges wirelessly at much faster rate. In comparison to this, iPhone 6 has only a 1810mAh of battery, which charges using Apple's propriety Lightning cable.

Samsung Galaxy S6 packs a 5.1-inches display screen, as there is significantly large screen this mean there is more room for users to browse web and enjoy videos. Samsung hasn't increased the screen size, as it's same as that of its predecessor but there's a increase in dpi and resolution of the AMOLED display to 2,560×1,440 pixels, a density of 577 pixels per inch (ppi).
Apple's new iPhone packs a 4.7-inches display screen (1334×750 pixel resolution) with a density of 326 pixels per inch (ppi)., which is larger than that of it's predecessor.

Even iPhone 6 has a great and large screen, but we'd say S6 wins at this phase.

Camera: We all know that having a good phone camera means a great deal and whenever we go to buy a new smartphone we usually always see the smartphones camera and then we go on to see its features. Thankfully both Apple and Samsung do a fantastic job with their cameras. They both take breathtaking photos specially in day light conditions.

Samsung Galaxy S6 features a 16MP rear camera shooter with a dual-flash and on the front there's a 5MP camera. It's camera can shoot 4K video and has lots of image-enhancing features embeded in it. In comparison to this Apple iPhone 6 packs a 8MP rear camera shooter and a 1.2MP front-facing camera shooter.

One thing which is to be noted is that iPhone 6 can capture up to 240FPS and offers video recording for extremely slow and stylish videos but is limited to shoot FullHD videos. In comparison to this S6 can capture up to 120FPS and can shoot videos in 4K resolution.

Well it seems Samsung has taken the title from this phase also. Software:  Both the devices runs on two different platforms, S6 running on Android latest Lollipop OS and iPhone 6 running on iOS 8. There's a great debate between these two platforms that rumbles on-in forums and real life. The major difference is that iOS is totally a different platform and in contrast with it Android supports home screen widgets and even let you install different launchers.
The other reason is that you might see Google apps on iOS but Apple programs are nowhere to be found on Android. There are lots of apps and customization on Android that won't be found on iOS platform. We'd say it varies from customer to customer which operating system he want to go with.
Verdict: So, which one do you prefer S6 or iPhone 6? Samsung work really well with design this time we are really impress with that, where Apple has slightly underwhelmed with its new iPhone. Talking of screen quality, S6 wins but 2K over a Retina display won't matter to most. Both smartphone offers premium design, slick performances, best smartphone cameras and significant software improvements.
