Ubuntu Touch Dropped Support For Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7 (2012), Nexus 10

Few hours ago Canonical reported a bad news for those expecting to get Ubuntu Touch support for their devices. According to the report, engineers have confirmed that they are dropping official support for Nexus devices including: Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7 (2012), Nexus 10. This means now only Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 (2013) are the left devices that Ubuntu will support.

Wait a minute what about Nexus 5? Report suggests that currently company has now plans about supporting the newly launched Nexus 5 smartphone. Now you must be thinking why the company has dropped the support for some Nexus devices.

Alexander Sack explains this on ubuntu-phone team mailing list. The officials behind the project want and need to narrow their focus so that they can emphasis on the upcoming 14.04 version of Ubuntu.

Don’t worry if you have the Ubuntu Touch installed on your Nexus device, it won’t stop working.
