Android 4.4.1 KitKat update would be soon rolling out said David Burke, Google's Director of Engineering for Android to The Verge. This new operating system is designed to fix all the camera bugs of Nexus 5 camera. Along with this, Android 4.4.1 KitKat will also bring some minor changes with it.
The Android 4.4.1 KitKat will bring changes in autofocus, particularly in low light, Burke says that the current Android 4.4 KitKat build on the Nexus 5 has a too heavy focus on image quality, "There's a tendency to say, 'oh, we have this cool thing that stabilizes, so let's make the shutter time longer, reduce the gain even longer, and get better shots." Also the update will also bring improvements in the White balance and Exposure algorithms.
But still Nexus 5 camera update lacks in some cases, one-touch focus feature is missing in camera app, low light pictures are still creating problems. Burke says his team is working on "tuning the edge cases," too, making sure the camera can function properly in strangely lit situations.
